The Cradle of Texas Chapter supports Environmental Education programs for elementary, intermediate, and high school children in Brazoria County and neighboring counties.   These programs are sponsored by local organizations including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, INEOS, Phillips 66, and the Brazoria County Library System.   The Chapter supports these programs by providing tour leaders, formal classroom instruction, instructional materials, facility resources, and program administration.

Volunteers are essential to the success of these efforts.   If you would be interested in assisting with any of these programs, please contact the Program Coordinators listed below.


DEEP: Discovery Environmental Education Program
THIS PROGRAM HAS CONCLUDED FOR THE 2011-12 ACADEMIC YEAR.
IT WILL RESUME DURING THE 2012-13 ACADEMIC YEAR.

The DEEP program is sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and supported by the Cradle of Texas Chapter.   Field trips are targeted at 4th-, 5th-, and 7th-grade students, primarily from Brazosport ISD.   Field trips are hosted at the Discovery Environmental Education Center at Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge and at other locations as announced.

INEOS Environmental Education Program

The INEOS EE program is sponsored by INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA and supported by the Cradle of Texas Chapter. Field trips are targeted at elementary-school students, primarily from Angleton ISD. Field trips are hosted at the INEOS Chocolate Bayou Wildlife Conservation Center located at the INEOS Chocolate Bayou Chemicals Complex.

Directions: The INEOS Chocolate Bayou Works is located on the south side of FM2004 near Chocolate Bayou.   To reach the EE facility, enter the gate 2.3 miles northeast of the crest of the FM2004 bridge over Chocolate Bayou.

LEEP: Linville Environmental Education Program
THIS PROGRAM HAS CONCLUDED FOR THE 2011-12 ACADEMIC YEAR.
IT WILL RESUME DURING THE 2012-13 ACADEMIC YEAR.

The LEEP program is sponsored by Phillips 66 and supported by the Cradle of Texas Chapter. Field trips are targeted at elementary-school students, primarily from Sweeny ISD and Van Vleck ISD. Field trips are hosted at the Phillips 66 Environmental Education facility located the Sweeny Refinery in Old Ocean.

Directions: The Phillips 66 refinery is located on the south side of the County Road 419 SH 35 bypass at Old Ocean.   Enter the refinery at Gate 105 and ask the guard for directions to Environmental Education. Map
